Aug. 27, 2008 — Six patients taking the type 2 diabetes drug Byetta are reported to have died after developing pancreatitis. That’s according to officials from Amylin pharmaceuticals and Eli Lily & Company, the companies that co-market the drug (Click here). It may be time to sell Alkermes. With Alkermes having a much smaller pipeline of drugs the time to sell may come at the next upswing if the economy improves.
Poisoning at Harvard
Sodium Azide Added to coffee!
Six researchers at Harvard University were admitted to the hospital in August after drinking tainted coffee from a coffee machine in the New Research Building in Boston, the Harvard Crimson reports. The coffee was found to have sodium azide in it. At least one of the people poisoned was a Harvard student, according to the Boston Herald. (click here)
